If your subscription payment failed, you're at risk of losing your Gold benefits. We typically give a small grace period then retry a failed payment once, before cancelling the Gold status.
A common reason for a failed payment is insufficient funds in either the PayPal account, or the primary bank account. If you ensure there is enough money in the account before we retry, you should get uninterrupted service.
Another common reason is card expiry. If you paid for Gold with your credit or debit card, you can update your card details under Manage Account. You should be able to do this without interruption.
